Random Awesome Books – Flashback Friday

Originally titled Today I Am Thankful for Books.  Any additions to the original post are in pink 🙂

I love books.

I have 3 bookshelves full of them, in my tiny little apartment. My husband is not impressed with this, or with my habit of picking up more whenever I have the money. I ALWAYS get them used, so its not a huge financial investment, just a space investment.
Some books entertain, some books educate, and some really good books do both.
Although I am mad at Amazon, due to the publishing of a disgusting book, I am going to untilize the little widget thing and list some of the highlights of my living room bookshelf.

Sorry for the craptastic layout… I can’t make it work today.  Still can’t make the layout look the way I want it too.  I am destined to have a messy blog.

I Can Do It Myself: Featuring Jim Henson's Sesame Street Muppets
This book was mine as a small child
Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? (Bright and Early Books for Beginning Beginners)
Some classic Dr. Seuss
Rejoice! Jesus Welcomes Me!: Jesus Welcomes Me (Walking With God)
So cute!  And even cuter when the kids are like “REJOICE” on everypage!
The Power of a Praying® Wife
I loved reading this book, and it was one that I actually read everyday, as scheduled, usually I give up after like a week or two.
On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep (On Becoming. . .)
You know I am not actually sure how much I like this book anymore.  It is quite severe with not a lot of mention of affection.  I don’t dislike the book, I just think it needs to be balanced out better.
The Little Bear Treasury
I adore treasuries.

Train up a Child
Very controversial, but as a conservative Christian, I think it has awesome advice, as long as you pay special attention to the part that tells you to build a relationship, don’t just be a dictator.  I would advise you read this, along with an attachment parenting book.  In my opinion a combination of attachment parenting and this book would be the best way to deal with kids.

Good Nights: The Happy Parents' Guide to the Family Bed (and a Peaceful Night's Sleep!)
Lots and lots of information about co-sleeping.  I don’t know for sure how far into co-sleeping I will be (same room for sure, but I don’t know about the same bed), but this is a very interesting read.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health
Should be required reading for girl’s sex ed classes
Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth about Pregnancy and Childbirth
Actually I love all of these books, but please be warned they are quite off color!

Confessions of a Shopaholic
I ❤ Chick Lit.

The Chronicles of Narnia
I have not actually read any of these books.  But my husband has a huge book that has all of the stories in one book.  It is pretty awesome.  Someday I should read it!
You Can Be the Wife of a Happy Husband (Paperback)
Mine looks completely different than this, but should be required reading for all new wives.
Remember Me?: A Novel
Remember when I said I love chick lit?  I think mostly I just love chick lit by Sophie Kinsella.  Ironically I don’t like books by Madeline Wickham (who in case you don’t know is the same person).

Two Books By Beverly Lewis: "The Confession" and "The Shunning" (Softcovers)
I love Amish fiction.  Especially Beverly Lewis.
