Congrats to the winners, and a big thank you to everyone that entered.  Also a HUGE  thank you to all my guest bloggers!

Every year I make a pretty long list of resolutions, and every year I fail fairly miserably at sticking to them.  And I am pretty much okay with that.  Someone asked me why I make resolutions if I know I am going to fail.  The reasons are threefold:

  1. Goals are good, even if you don’t meet them, its nice to have them in sight.
  2. If I ever DO manage to meet them I will be extra stoked.
  3. I blog, and sometimes coming up with blog posts is hard, so at least one a year can be tackled with a resolutions post 😛

This year I have only two resolutions.  There are plenty of other things I would like to do, but they involve either Michael or money and are therefore out of my control.  For the resolutions I am making, I have some mini plans on how to accomplish these things, but that certainly doesn’t mean it will get done.

  • read the entire Bible (so far I am 5/5 on my Bible reading plan!).
    • I have a One Year Bible reading plan on Bible app from YouVersion on my phone.  (This sentence makes me sad, anyone from even 10 years ago would have no idea what I was talking about…)
    • I have given up on the King James Version.  I think KJV is the most accurate, least politically motivated version of the Bible, BUT reading the old style English takes forever and makes it hard to understand, which makes me not want to read.  So I am using the NLT for this year.

  • Lose 22 pounds.  This would put me back at my “marrying weight” and would make me REALLY happy!
    • I am limiting my soda.  Although I KNOW I should be quitting soda entirely, I really, really don’t want to.  Maybe someday in like 50 years or something.  But for now I am limiting it to Friday-Sunday and “special occasions” like birthdays and visiting my dad.
    • Michael got me Just Dance 4 and the Playstation Move for Christmas, and then got me Just Dance 3 after Christmas because it has better songs.  There are workout options on the games, and I am planning to play it for at least 3 songs everyday (So far I have not missed a day!).

I don’t think these are TO far fetched, and maybe, just maybe, this year I will have a WIN instead of another fail!

  1. I'll have to check that out. Mostly I really dislike the NIV and from my (highly scientific internet) research, find that NIV takes out passages and phrases confirming the deity of Christ, as well as some liberties with making certain sinful activities not sinful. I will certainly check out the RSV though. Thanks!

  2. I've emailed everyone and will let you know as soon as I get the address 🙂 Thank you for doing the giveaway, and the idea of a 12 Days of Christmas series. It increased my blog views like CRAZY!

  3. I also had a problem with NIV. The one that I had tended to be antisemitic in the little extra commentary running through it, which I found disgusting and uncalled for to say the very least. Ironically part of the problem with the KJV is that it makes things sinful that aren't. I actually found the not political statement about the KJV kinda funny actually (no offense). It appears that some of the mistranslations might not have been as accidental as one would hope and it appears to be directly related to the personal beliefs, political and otherwise, of the translators.

  4. I guess that unless I learn to read Greek and Hebrew and such I'm stuck trusting someones translations and hoping they didn't mess it up to bad for personal/political reasons. I don't think God will fault me for following his word as I know it, even if it wasn't quite how he intended it to be read.I suppose the KJV is probably just as politically motivated, just from a different era, and for different reasons.

  5. I have tried for about 3 years to get my husband to buy me a Wii and WiiFit but he always said no, because I wouldn't use it. I have used it a couple times at other peoples houses, and find it quite fun. I HATE when Netflix takes away shows I like watching!

  6. I'm always so impressed with people who try to read the whole Bible. I've tried and never get very far! My goal is to lose 20 lbs this year also! Unfortunately it won't get me back to my wedding day weight but it will get me to a weight that I've felt the most comfortable. Good luck with your goals!

  7. You have good goals to attain. I've read the whole Bible but not in a year…it took me 18 months. A year was tough for me but I stuck to it until I finished it. I'm rooting for you to do it in a year. I am partial to the ESV version myself. Thank you for sharing your post at WJIM. Blessings to you.
